There have been a lot of speculation, rumors, gossip, and so on, regarding Apple’s fabled unicorn tablet, the iPad. Forecasts at this time don’t predict any lightening up of the rumor-storms over the next few months. In that spirit, I have decided to take a moment and thrown in my two cents. So, without much more ado, here they are, my predictions for Apple rumors from today (February 10) to, oh let’s say June.
- A refresh of the MacBook Pro line (possibly announced alongside the iPhone refresh)
- A refresh of the iPhone (announced in March, a few weeks after the iPad launch, shipped in June, in time for WWDC)
- Mac OS X will be updated to 10.6.3 (prior to WWDC)
- Apple will release a major update to the iPhone OS which doesn’t allow flash support, but will support multitasking on the iPad, in addition to making the whole OS more scalable to help encourage fluidity between the iPhone, Mac, and iPad.
- A revamp of the App Store approval process (which will be announced at WWDC)
- Some sort of MobileMe update that will sound neat in a sales pitch for the iPad, but really won’t catch on because MobileMe still costs $100 a year.
Again, I could be totally off base here, but this is what I am predicting based on the rumors that I am hearing, the industry nuts I’m listening to, and my own personal experience in the past with Apple releases.
Cheers!
